From Region 15 Schools: Michael Tutoli, a seventh grade student at Memorial Middle School (MMS) in Middlebury, CT, was named the school’s GeoBee champion and recently completed in the National Geographic GeoBee state-level competition held at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) at the end of March.

To compete at the state-level, each participating school’s champion takes a proctored online qualifying test administered by National Geographic. The top 100 ranked students in each state qualify to represent their school at the state level GeoBee competition, held this year CCSU. The preliminary competition includes 8 rounds of questions and Michael successfully completed 6 rounds correctly. “It was a great experience. I learned much about the world’s history, culture,s and geography,” said Michael. The National Geographic GeoBee is an annual competition designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world. Students in grades four
through eight (4-8) from nearly 10,000 schools across the United States competed in the 2019 National Geographic GeoBee for a chance to win college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic GeoBee Champion.
