Region 15 New Teachers Contract Details Released: Report

The Region 15 Board of Education and its teacher union, which includes Middlebury and Southbury public schools teachers have agreed to a new three-year contract, which affords teachers annual raises of 3.26 percent or 9.77 percent over the three years, the Republican-American reports.

But the pay increase also comes with a tradeoff as teachers will pay an additional 3 percent for their health care costs over the next three years, and higher co-pays for prescriptions.

Both sides called the deal fair and said they wanted to avoid arbitration.
