Region 15 Students With Art Awards

Congratulations to all of the award winners.

From Pomperaug Schools: Students from Pomperaug High School and Rochambeau Middle School were recognized in the Connecticut Student Awards presentation on Sunday, January 27 th at the 30th annual Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards, held at the Lincoln Theater at the University of Hartford in Hartford, CT.

At the art exhibit, one Region 15 student earned a Gold Key, five Region 15 students earned Silver Keys, and one Region 15 student earned an honorable mention. Their performance showcases the students’ talents and reflects the innovation of the creative art programs in the district. Professional artists and University of Hartford art faculty judged over 1,500 Connecticut student art works in varied art media categories. Artwork was selected on merit for inclusion in the statewide art exhibition that was held at the University of Hartford Art School. Beyond the honor of being selected for this exclusive exhibit, students were awarded gold or silver keys and honorable mention places in each of 17 media categories.

From Pomperaug High School: Veronica Egas received a Silver Key in Film & Animation; Molly Flanagan received a Silver Key in Ceramics & Glass; Juliana Jensen, received an honorable mention in Sculpture; Lauren Slater received a Silver Key Award in Sculpture; and Mikhail Statcekno received a Silver Key Award in Sculpture. From Rochambeau Middle School: Vincent Del Vento received a Gold Key in Painting and Emily McRae received a Silver Key in Painting.

The public is invited to view the artwork by students from Rochambeau, as well as other selected artwork from across Region 15, in exhibits celebrating Youth Art Month on display at the community libraries in Southbury and Middlebury during the month of March.
