SOUTHBURY/MIDDLEBURY, CT — Six Pomperaug High School (PHS) students qualified to participate in the prestigious Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) All-State Music Festival this year at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford on Thursday, April, 11th- Saturday April 13th. Representing PHS will be: Cana Kumi – All State Choir, Winnie Chen – All State Concert Band, Jason Winter – All State Choir, Taylor Blanco – All State Choir, Elisabeth Dumont – All State Choir, and Autumn Hirschfield – All State Choir.

A two-tiered audition process is required to determine eligibility in the CMEA All-State Music Festival; the first round is the Southern Region Music Festival and the second is the All – State audition.

Twenty-six students from Pomperaug High School originally qualified to participate in the CMEA Southern Region Music Festival held in January. Those students then audition against high school students from throughout the state of Connecticut, enduring rigorous auditions for a position in the concert band, orchestra, chorus, and/or jazz band. The students who score high enough are selected to participate in the All-State Music Festival.
