Region 15 Students Honored By Connecticut Writing Project
Congratulations to all of the students who were honored.

From Pomperaug Regional School District 15: Six students from Memorial Middle School (MMS) were selected to have their work published by the Connecticut Writer’s Project at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT. As selected student winners, their work was selected for publication in the 31st issue of Connecticut Student Writers (CSW) magazine. Twenty-three students from MMS submitted their work to be considered for publication.
Receiving this recognition for the third consecutive year is MMS 8th grade student Audrey Finn for her artwork titled, “The Noble Peacock,” and for the second year, MMS 7th grade student Katherine Kennon for her short story fiction piece titled, “Runaway Tide.” Also selected for publication as honorable mentions were: Eva Fellin for her short story fiction piece titled, “Four Wheels,” Emma Avcollie for her fiction piece titled, “Stars,” Brandon White for his fiction piece titled, “Calvin,” and Isabella Battista for her artwork titled, “Braided Beauty.”
Their pieces were selected from more than 1800 poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and art submissions that were reviewed by volunteer teachers from across the State of Connecticut. The students were honored at the Student Recognition Night hosted by the Connecticut Writing Project on Thursday, May 16th, at the Jorgenson Center of the Performing Arts, on the campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT.

Connecticut Student Writers is a statewide magazine established in 1988 and published by the Connecticut Writing Project (CWP) at Storrs, recognizing excellence in student writing and artwork in students from grades Kindergarten through 12.
