Region 15 Teacher Semi-Finalist for CT State Teacher of the Year

This is the third consecutive year in which the State Department of Education has selected Region 15's Teacher of the Year as a semifinalist

Stacie Broden, Region 15’s Teacher of the Year, was named a semifinalist for the Connecticut State Teacher of the Year honor, officials announced in a news release.

Broden has worked as an Interventionist at Middlebury Elementary School since 2012. Prior to that she was a first and second grade teacher at Pomperaug Elementary School for 15 years. As Interventionist she works closely with the teaching staff to design and execute remedial programs that will ensure student success in literacy and math. She also oversees remedial programs.

Broden is described as an inspiring educator, mentor, colleague and co-teacher, results-oriented interventionist and passionate Special Olympics volunteer.

“Her name is synonymous with model teacher. Her impact on children, adults, and families has been a life-changer for many. She so ably and so deservedly represents all of us at Region 15,” said Superintendent of Region 15 Schools Regina L. Botsford in a district statement.

This is the third consecutive year in which the Connecticut State Department of Education has selected Region 15’s Teacher of the Year as a semifinalist for Connecticut State Teacher of the Year. Previous semifinalists were Sarah Kate Walkup and Brian T. Jehning.

“It is a wonderful affirmation of the quality of teaching staff in Region 15 and of the Board’s commitment to excellence in instruction,” said Botsford.
