Report: IBM to Remain in Southbury For Now
A state lawmaker had said IBM was looking to leave because of the high taxes in Connecticut.

UPDATE: The Danbury News Times quotes an IBM officials who says that “rumors and speculation regarding the future of IBM’s Southbury, Connecticut, facility are unfounded” and declined any further comment on the matter.
IBM is the town’s largest taxpayer and employs 1,100 people.

Original post: A private conversation between IBM representatives and a local state lawmaker, Arthur J. O’Neil may have severe consequences for the town of Southbury and the state of Connecticut.
The Republican-American exclusively reports that because of the new approved state budget, which includes new taxes on businesses, IBM may be looking to to leave the state.

Currently, IBM’s data processing center is located in town, which includes 1,100 jobs, and is the town’s biggest taxpayer.
If IBM were to leave, O’Neil said that would have severe consequences to Southbury’s tax rate.
A company spokesman wouldn’t confirm O’Neil’s statement, but didn’t refute it either, the Rep-Am reports.
