Report: State Budget Change Leads to $30K Cost For Southbury
The state is requiring Southbury pay more for the position of resident trooper sergeant.

Southbury will have to find an additional $30,000 in its recently approved budget, which begins on July 1, to fund its share of the salary of the resident trooper sergeant, who oversees the police force, the Republican-American reports.
The state General Assembly decided to require local towns to fund 85 percent of the costs next year. Recently, local communities have had to fund 70 percent of the costs.
