Sign Removed In Southbury Comparing Democrats To Nazis: Report

First Selectman Jeffrey Manville is preparing a statement condemning the "reprehensible" sign.

SOUTHBURY, CT — An anti-Democrats sign — that contained swastikas and compared the party to Nazis — was removed from a corner in Southbury over the weekend, and First Selectman Jeffrey Manville called the sign "reprehensible," reported the Republican-American.

The sign was hung Saturday at the intersection of North and South Main streets, and Manville and the Board of Selectmen are in the midst of preparing a statement condemning it.

Additionally, the Connecticut Anti-Defamation League condemned it, and the group is working with town officials on the response. Who hung the sign is not known.

"Deeply disturbing to see #swastikas displayed so brazenly and inappropriately on banners in #Southbury," wrote the league on Twitter (see below). "We appreciate the immediate condemnation from town officials and are working closely now with Southbury leadership to provide resources and guidance to the community."
