Silver Bridge Project in Southbury Will Lead to Lane Closures in the Spring
At some point the bridge will need to be closed for seven days, but no work is occurring during the winter.

Silver Bridge Project: Just returned from a pre-construction meeting at Department of Transportation regarding the improvements to be made to the Silver / Metal bridge that connects Southbury to Sandy Hook.
The work includes replacing trusses that have been subject to corrosion and repainting. Work is scheduled to begin on April 1. It will require one-way traffic over the course of the 2015 construction season that will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.

No work will be done during rush hour periods (Monday through Friday) to expedite work. At some time, the bridge will need to be completely closed for 7 days for replacement of the deck.
All involved recognize the importance of this route, especially if there is ever a problem on I-84. No work is planned for the winter; there will be other work done in the spring of 2016 to complete the work but this should not affect traffic flow.
