Smoke-detector Giveaway Expanded in Southbury
The town is partnering with the Red Cross to supply and install smoke detectors in local homes.

The Town of Southbury is expanding its smoke detector giveaway program thanks to a partnership with the Red Cross.
An article in the Republican American said the free program provide and install smoke detectors that last 10 years in Southbury residents’ homes.
Fire Marshal Barry Rickert is quoted in the article saying he believes smoke detectors save people’s lives, citing a major fire earlier this summer at the Heritage Village condomiums in which all seven occupants got out safely.
