Southbury Adopts Mask Requirement For Government Buildings
The new mandate will take effect on Monday, according to First Selectman Jeff Manville.
SOUTHBURY, CT — With the delta variant causing a spike in coronavirus cases locally and throughout the state, Southbury will require visitors to municipal buildings to wear masks, according to First Selectman Jeff Manville.
The new mandate takes effect on Monday and is designed "to protect the health and safety of our employees and citizens."
Manville said that Emergency Management Director Steve Schnell and the Pomperaug Health District recommended the requirement.

"I am working with our Emergency Management Director and health district to monitor the situation and evaluate the possibility of additional mitigation measures moving forward," Manville said in a statement. "I encourage the public to wear masks in all indoor settings to combat the spread of COVID-19."
