Southbury Animal Control Facility Getting its Update

The project will add insulation to the 40-year-old facility.

Southbury First Selectman Ed Edelson shares on his Facebook page that Southbury’s Animal Control facility is finally getting its face lift.

“Over 2 years ago, I had included in the Capital Budget funds to improve the energy efficiency of the building by installing insulation over this 40 year old cement block building.

The work was delayed in the summer of 2013 when the town began caring for 31 dogs; construction was not in the dogs or worker’s best interest. Then the work was delayed while waiting for a final list of near term improvements by the Animal Task Force. The decision to move forward came in December, but the harsh winter with its numerous storms set the work back. Now the work is underway - with panels of insulation covered by the hardie board siding,” Edelson wrote.
