Southbury Election Results 2021: Manville Wins Re-Election

Thousands of Southbury residents cast votes in Tuesday's municipal election.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Republican First Selectman Jeff Manville unofficially won a fourth term Tuesday night over Democratic challenger John Diehl, according to results posted on the town's website.

Manville unofficially received 3,449 votes, while Diehl received 2,479.

Republicans also unofficially dominated other seats throughout the town.

For the Board of Selectmen, the candidates the unofficial winners (in bold) were:

Democrats - Justin Bette; Kim McNeill; and Audrie DeRouen

Republicans - Gregory Kuehn; Jason A. Buchsbaum; and Holly Sullivan


On the Board of Finance, two Democrats and three Republicans vied for three seats; the winners (in bold) were:

Democrats - Robert Buck and Rob Pavlock

Republicans - John Kelly; John L. Reilly; and Brian Emerick


The Board of Assessment Appeals had two candidates for one seat, Democrat Marian Van Egas vs. Republican Gabby Addison.

For the Planning Commission, the candidates were:

Democrats - Nancy G. Clark; Robyn Greenspan; and Alex Gittines

Republican - Ronald Conti

For the Zoning Commission, three Democrats and two Republicans were vying for three seats:

Democrats - Wendy Bernard; Chris Rempfer; and Richard Ashby

Republicans - David Dicks Jr. and Gary J. Giroux

Two candidates were also vying for one position as Alternate on the Zoning Commission, Democrat Barbara Wheeler vs. Republican Jay Hine.

On the Zoning Board of Appeals, the candidates were:

Democrats - Kathy Fracassini and Marge E. Mullen

Republicans - David Pittari and Sharon Scarlet

For the three seats on the Inland Wetlands Commission, the candidates were:

Democrats - Paul Fortier; Robert DeCarli; and Barbie J. Granton

Republican - Daniel Slywka

The Pomperaug Valley Water Authority had two candidates vying for one seat, Democrat Richard Boritz vs. Republican Rae Van Egas.

Two Democrats and three Republicans faced off for three seats on the Regional Board of Education. They were:

Democrats - Tara Beall-Gomes and William Ollayos

Republicans - Tom Marks; Marion Manzo; and Heather Rodgers
