Southbury Farmers' Market Opens on June 18

There are numerous vendors returning and many new vendors have signed on for this year.

The Southbury Farmers’ Market opens on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 3 to 6 PM. The market is located at the Town Hall Green, 501 Main Street South in Southbury.

The Market is celebrating its 8th anniversary. Every year the roster of vendors expands and this year is no different, making a visit to the Southbury Farmers’ Market a one-stop shopping experience.

The following farmers are returning this year:
Mitchell Farm from Southbury with vegetables and fruits. Stoneledge Hollow Farm from Southbury with vegetables, jams, jellies and organic eggs. Sunrise Sunset Farm of Bethlehem with all sorts of veggies and the most wonderful garlic you’ve ever tasted. Goatboy Soaps of New Milford with wonderful soap and body products. Daffodil Hill Growers of Southbury will be bringing their veggies, fruits, honey, and annuals. Averill Farm from Washington will be bringing their famous cider donuts, dog biscuits, gluten free cookies and, as the season progresses, peaches and apples. The Olive Oil Factory from Waterbury has a great selection of infused olive oils and vinegars to complete a meal. Southbury’s own Bakes and Cakes will be at the market offering a variety of gluten free as well as regular baked goods and bread. Aradia Farm of Southbury, offering all natural pork, beef, eggs and maple syrup.

If you are looking for something to eat at the market or a quick dinner to take home, visit the following returning vendors:

The Chubby Oven makes wood fired pizzas using market ingredients for toppings. The pizza is available by the slice or a whole pie. Relaxin Jacks of Southbury specializes in BBQ sauce and BBQ spice rubs and will have their mobile smoker at the market this year with an array of BBQ options to take home and enjoy. Biscotti, Etc. from Sandy Hook offers handmade biscotti of different flavors. Hard Core Sweet Cupcake’s Truck has become a market favorite. They are located in the Oakville section of Watertown and have won the Food Network Cupcake Wars competition.

New Vendors to the market this year include the following:

Paradise Foods of New Fairfield have a great selection of frozen soups, entrees, and quiches to take home, along with some treats for your sweet tooth! Contented Critters of Bethel will be selling a variety of treats for both cats and dogs. Cricket Hill Nursery of Thomaston will also be a guest vendor for three dates during the season, selling the beautiful peonies they breed in Thomaston, CT.
