Southbury First Selectman Edward Edelson cautions residents via social media to be on alert for a potential scam targeting residents.

“It was brought to our attention that many Southbury residents received a letter from a bank stating that their taxes were delinquent. It most likely is a scam to get check information from taxpayers. If you received such correspondence, don’t send any information requested on that letter. Instead, call the bank you have your loan/mortgage with to check if they sent any letter to you and if indeed they need any information from you.”
