Southbury First Selectman Presents His Proposed Budget: Report

It's several hundred thousand dollars more than the current year's expenditure.

SOUTHBURY, CT — First Selectman Jeffrey Manville is proposing Southbury spend $21.7 million to run the town next year, an increase of about $550,000 over the current year's budget, reports the Waterbury Republican-American.

The plan is about 2.6 percent above this year's budget, but does not include the more than $1.2 million worth of proposed cuts by Gov. Dannel Malloy, because Manville was already well into preparing the budget before the governor announced the reductions.

Highlights of Manville's budget include spending $100,000 for a new liner for the swimming pool at Ballantine Park; and nearly $2.3 million for road maintenance.
