Southbury Man Assaults Cop After 14-Hour Standoff: State PD

The accused is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Joseph M. Stotz, 38, of Purchase Brook Road in Southbury, is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond after he was involved in a 14-hour standoff with police. At 2:04 a.m. on Monday, Southbury Police and Connecticut State Police responded to Purchase Brook Road for a reported domestic violence incident.

Upon arrival, officers and troopers made contact with Stotz, who immediately barricaded himself inside his home, State Police said. State Police tried to get Stotz to exit his home and for a period of time Purchase Brook Road was closed.

Stotz was taken into custody at 4:05 p.m. Monday and transported to Waterbury Hospital for evaluation and he was released.

He is charged with assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer. He was given a $100,000 bond.
