Southbury Nurse Tampered With Drugs Intended For Patients: Prosecutors

A Southbury nurse was indicted on drug tampering charges, according to federal prosecutors.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A nurse has been accused of tampering with prescription drugs intended for patients, according to federal prosecutors. Sean Falzarano, 37, of Southbury, was indicted on five counts of tampering with a consumer product.

Last year, Falzarano took five vials containing a Lorazepam solution he knew was intended to be dispensed to patients, removed the Lorazepam solution, replaced it with saline, and returned the vials to be used in medical procedures, according to prosecutors.

Falzarano pleaded not guilty to the charges at a federal court in New Haven. He is released on a $50,000 bond pending trial.

Each charge of tampering with a consumer product carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years.

Falzarano’s nursing license is currently suspended.
