Southbury Police Arrest Fugitive After High-Speed Chase

Southbury police and Connecticut State Troopers arrest a man wanted in Wallingford following a wild high-speed chase along I-84.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A high-speed chase along Interstate 84 ended in the arrest of of a fugitive from justice, State Police said. State Police report that Nathaniel Calloway, wanted by police in Wallingford, was apprehended by Southbury police officers and State Troopers after a trooper was alerted that the registration on his vehicle was suspended.

When Calloway became aware he was being pursued, he accelerated to speeds exceeding 115 MPH travelling eastbound on I-84, State Police said. The trooper lost sight of him east of Exit 11, only to discover Calloway's vehicle rolled over on the right shoulder of the highway, State Police said.

After extricating himself through the back window, Calloway then led the trooper on a chase by foot onto River Road in Southbury, State Police said. Shortly thereafter, he was taken into custody.

Calloway was taken to Waterbury Hospital for evaluation, released, and is now being held on a $50,000 bond. The police report states that the vehicle was stolen, and that a set of brass knuckles and a large amount of U.S. currency were seized from it.
