Southbury Recognized as a Silver Recipient at the Clean Energy Communities Awards Ceremony

Southbury was honored as part of the nationally-recognized Clean Energy Communities program.

More than 145 Connecticut municipalities were honored in October for their participation in the nationally-recognized Clean Energy Communities program, an Energize Connecticut initiative that incentivizes cities and towns to support energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Among the honorees was the Town of Southbury being celebrated as a silver recipient.

How did Southbury earn their award?
• Used $10,000 Bright Idea Grant to host annual Energy Fair
• Participated in Municipal Technical Assistance pilot in 2014
• 1,298 (17%) homes have participated in residential energy-saving programs
• 126 (14%) business & municipal energy-saving projects completed
• Installed a solar photovoltaic system at Southbury Library
• Southbury is a C-PACE and Solarize CT community
