Southbury's Shane Bannon, who was was chosen Saturday in the seventh round of the NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs,  says he's on "cloud nine, according to the Waterbury Republican newspaper. Bannon, who graduated from  Pomperaug High School in 2007, was a running back at Pomperaug, and played the same position at Yale.   According to Yale, Bannon is 6-2, 265-pound; he is the First Yale player drafted to the NFL since 2004.   In college, he played in 28 games, had two rushes and scored one TD while catching 16 passes for 147 yards with two TDs, according to Yale.   "He [Bannon] is a developmental H-back type player who can contribute as a lead blocker and pass-catcher," according to a draft report on ESPN.com.   He was the 20th pick in the seventh round by the Kansas City Chiefs, the 223 pick overall. "I feel like I put myself in a very good position to make this happen, and I did it. So I couldn't be more excited. I'm still a little numb right now, but I am just so excited and ready to play,'' according to the Republican.
