Southbury Resident Named to Named to Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission
Dr. Ruby Corby O'Neill is a native of Honduras.
Dr. Ruby Corby O’Neill of Southbury has been named by House Republican Leader Themis Klarides as a Commissioner to the Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission, according to a prepared statement.
O’Neill, a native of Honduras emigrated with her family to New York City in 1954. Dr. O’Neill holds a Ph.D in Psychology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and has spent much of her adult life in academia.
Dr. O’Neill is a founding member and Secretary of the Latino National Republican Coalition of Connecticut (LNRCCT), which she described as a “grassroots movement committed to being a voice for Latinos on national and state issues.’’

Klarides said in a prepared statement she was grateful to O’Neill for agreeing to serve on LPRAC as her appointee.
“Ruby brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this organization which can play a vital role in shaping public policy.’’

She is a recently retired tenured Psychology professor and has taught at both public and private universities in New York and Connecticut.
Dr. O’Neill is the wife of State Rep. Arthur O’Neill R-69th District.
