Southbury Residents Featured in Guide to Giving
The Connecticut Community Foundation has released a new Guide to Giving highlighting the philanthropic endeavors of area residents.
From the Connecticut Community Foundation: Connecticut Community Foundation has released a new Guide to Giving which highlights the philanthropic endeavors of Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills residents to enrich communities in the region and describes customizable charitable giving opportunities for financial and estate planning.
The Guide features the stories of Samantha and Rob Nobile of Southbury, Emily and Eric Anderson of Woodbury, Valerie Friedman of Washington, Lisa Powers and Fred Baker of New Milford, and Dolores Riollano of Waterbury.
Inspired by their daughter, Alex, the Nobiles created Alex’s Helping Hands Fund at Connecticut Community Foundation to raise money for agencies that provide therapies for children with special needs—at low or no cost. Alex has benefited from vital therapy services in the face of a rare genetic condition that will cause lifelong challenges.

Samantha Nobile said, “All children deserve a chance to access the therapeutic services they need to achieve their greatest potential. Their family’s financial status shouldn’t keep kids from accessing early interventions.” Samantha and Rob’s fund at the Foundation will provide grants to agencies that provide therapies for children like Alex, breaking down barriers for children with special needs.
Paula Van Ness, president and CEO of the Foundation, said, “Since 1923, thousands of people have created and grown philanthropic funds through the Foundation to help Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills thrive. We expect the Guide to Giving to be a vital resource for financial and estate planners, community residents, and donors and potential donors who wish to make more charitable visions reality.”
