UPDATE: Southbury Has Enough Salt for the Next Storm, Top Official Says
Voters approved additional funds so the town can purchase more sand and salt.

Updated at 9:45 a.m. Update on Salt Inventory by First Selectman Ed Edelson: There have been 6 major storm events in the last three weeks. This has put a strain on the delivery of salt to many towns in the State.
Our Public Works staff is working hard to manage the inventory. As of last night, we had about 300 tons on hand (see photos) which should be enough for the storm forecasted for early next week. We have more deliveries scheduled for today and tomorrow. I want to thank all of those who have complimented the PW staff for their hard work in light of the numerous storm events. I know the staff has my utmost appreciation.
Original post: I’m sure this situation isn’t unique to Southbury but basically the town has run out of sand and salt because of one winter storm after another recently.

The voters approved a $125,000 transfer from the town’s reserve accounts to purchase more sand and salt in advance of another pending winter storm that could begin late Saturday or early Sunday morning, NBC Connecticut reports.
Southbury had originally budgeted $225,000 for sand and salt supplies but has already expended that account.

While the funds have been approved, local officials are worried supplies won’t reach the town in advance of the next winter storm, and are preparing to send their own trucks to get the sand and salt reinforcements.
