A Southbury trooper is under investigation on accusations of sexual assault, according to a statement from state police.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A Southbury trooper is under investigation on accusations of sexual assault, according to a statement from state police.

Police said at 1:31 a.m. Wednesday, constables were called to a home on Old Field Road in Southbury.

A person at the home made allegations against Jose Campos, a state trooper, which prompted a sexual assault investigation, state police said.

The investigation is being run by the Central District Major Crime Squad. Campos has been suspended, pending the outcome of the investigation, and his police powers have been revoked, according to a statement from police.
