Southbury to Study 'Blight,' Make Recommendations
Whether a home or structure is contributing to a neighborhood's downfall is one issue.

Is it “rustic” or is it “deteriorated”?
That is the question facing Southbury’s Blight Solutions Study Committee, according to an article in the Republican-American.
Recently, the committee submitted a report to the Board of Selectmen with definitions of “blight” and recommendations on how to handle complaints, the newspaper reported.

The document the committee submitted defined “blight” as structures which might have deteriorated to the point that it poses a health or safety risk. It also was defined, according to the article, as “contributing to the economic deterioration of the town and property values of the neighborhood.”
