SOUTHBURY, CT — Residents still in the midst of cleaning up after last weekend's record-setting rain and its aftermath have caught a small break.

The Town of Southbury is waiving fees for storm-related debris brought to the town's transfer station.

Homeowners can bring their vegetative debris and household items that were damaged in the flooding at no charge.

Logs, stumps, and hazardous material will not be accepted, and should not be mixed in with the loads.

In order to use the Southbury transfer station, residents must have a permit. Permits can be obtained at the transfer station or at the first selectman's office at Southbury Town Hall. Picture ID and vehicle registration are required in order to obtain a permit.

The Southbury transfer station is located at 231 Kettletown Road. It is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
