Southbury's Stango Makes Decision on 5th District Congressional Seat
The position is currently filled by Incumbent Elizabeth Esty, a Democrat.

Joseph J. Stango, of Southbury, announced Tuesday that he will not be a Republican candidate for the 5th District Congressional race and has instead endorsed Sherman First Selectman Clay Copes for the position, the Republican-American reports.
Stango’s announcement means that the GOP field is down to Copes, Matthew Maxwell, of Sandy Hook, and John Pistone, of Brookfield.
The incumbent is Elizabeth Esty, a Democrat. Stango cited business and family reasons as reasons against running. Stango’s big issue is Medicaid reform and he didn’t rule out a future run.
