Southbury's Tax Rate Increasing by Less Than 3 Percent Next Year

A budget referendum will be held next month.

The Southbury Board of Finance approved a $20.7 million town operations budget for fiscal 2015-16, which increases spending by $527,224 or 2.6 percent, reports Bill Bittar of the Republican-American.

That $20.7 million figure is added to Southbury’s share to fund the Region 15 schools budget, which is $44.6 million.

Overall, Southbury’s tax rate is increasing by 2.9 percent next year. For example, if your house is assessed at $200,000, you’ll pay an additional $160 next year, Bittar reports.
