TONIGHT! B'nai Israel Southbury Synagogue 6th Graders Host Food Tasting Fundraiser & Talent Show Saturday May 16th from 6 - 8 p.m. $5.OO Admission per person
A non-denominational fundraiser created by the B'nai Israel Religious School 6th Graders Honoring the Memory of a Classmate's Brother
Saturday, May 16th from 6 - 8 p.m., the B’nai Israel Religious School 6th Grade Class will host a fundraiser honoring the memory of a fellow classmates brother, Alex Rand who passed away at age 25 from cardiomyopathy.
The 6th graders chose this good deed or worthy act (Mitzvah) to benefit the scholarship fund set up by the Rand family in Alex’s name. The tween classmates named the event Mitzvah Galuzah... Mitzvah being the good deed and Galuzah, well Galuzah is a fun sounding word and brainchild of enthusiastic 11 and 12 year olds!
The kids collaborated, organizing a family fun, food taste off and talent show. Volunteer amateur chefs will serve samplings of salads, main courses, side dishes and desserts while the kids perform in a talent show for the delight of the crowd. Guest are also welcome to submit a dish for judging and can be in the talent show as well! (Family appropriate talent acts are limited to a 4 minute maximum). The night will be like a homespun version of The Food Network meets Broadway! GALUZAH indeed!
Admission is $5.OO per person. Samplings of beverages and craft beers are 25 cents each. All of the evenings proceeds to benefit the Alex Rand Scholarship Fund.
