Trooper Injured, Man Charged In I-84 Wrong-Way Crash: Police
A man is facing allegations that he drove the wrong way on I-84 in Southbury and struck a trooper's vehicle, according to police.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A man is facing accusations that he drove the wrong way on I-84 in Southbury and struck a trooper's vehicle, according to state police.
At around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Victor Hugo Pelaez-Macas was driving a Mercedes C-Class eastbound in the left lane of I-84 West near Exit 15 and caused the crash, according to state police.
The trooper and Palaez-Macas suffered minor injuries. Both were transported to Waterbury Hospital for treatment.

Pelaez-Macas, 34, of Flushing, NY, was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/ alcohol, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, operating a motor vehicle without a license, and reckless endangerment. His bond was set at $10,000. He is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Oct. 5.
