Kristen Powers, 44, was told "multiple times" by Avelo she could not board plane to Tampa due to her "level of intoxication:" New Haven PD.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A Southbury woman was charged after cops were called to Tweed New Haven Airport late Sunday afternoon for an "issue with multiple intoxicated people inside the terminal." Police said the group "dispersed," but Kristen Powers, 44, remained.

Police said Powers was "advised multiple times that the airline was not allowing her to fly due to her level of intoxication and that she had to leave the premises."

"Powers was belligerent and argumentative, so officers told her to arrange for a ride," according to the police report.

"A short time later, officers were called back into the building due to Powers’ continuing behavior," police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart said. "Officers and Tweed staff attempted to deescalate the situation and convince Powers to leave, warning her that if she did not, she would be arrested."

But, Burckhart said that Powers "continued to be argumentative and told officers, 'arrest me' and 'place me under arrest.'
