WEATHER UPDATE: Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Southbury

There is the potential for it to be another stormy day on Tuesday as the National Weather Service has issued “Hazardous Weather Outlooks” and a “Special Weather Statement” for a majority of the state.

The greatest chance for severe weather is predicted for Hartford and Tolland counties.

The National Weather Service writes, “a few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. this evening.” The best chance for severe weather is in northern Connecticut, the weather service writes in its early morning advisory.

Damaging wind gusts, hail, heavy rain, and lightning are all possible.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook is in effect for northern Fairfield, northern New Haven, and northern Middlesex counties.

There is a chance of thunderstorms producing damaging winds and or large hail this afternoon and early evening, the National Weather Service writes.

For areas along the immediate coastline, southern Fairfield, southern New Haven, and New London counties there is still a chance of severe weather.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible between 11-5, and there is a greater chance of severe weather between 5 p.m. and up until 8 p.m. tonight.

And of course more stormy weather is forecast for Thursday and Saturday.

Tonight, Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8pm and 9pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 59. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
