The Wedding Singer, a Landmark Student Theatre production, comes to the Opera House main stage. Landmark Student Theatre offers regional teens real world experience, with qualified production staff, in all aspects of the performing arts culminating with one high quality, full-scale musical production not typically offered to teens.
Landmark Community Theatre (LCT) and the Landmark Student Theatre will bring to the stage a musical cult comedy. Dan Checovetes will direct, with AJ Bunel directing music, and Jennifer Bunger providing choreography. The production will open on August 13th and run through August 15th , 2015 for a total of 3 performances.
The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room. Based on the hit Adam Sandler movie, The Wedding Singer’s sparkling new score does for the ‘80s what Hairspray did for the ‘60s. Just say yes to the most romantic musical in 20 years.
It’s 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart, played by TOH veteran and Thomaston High graduating senior Connor Dunn, is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party, until his own fiancee leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, played by Jess Cocomazzi who was in LCT’s production of A Christmas Carol. Julia is a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark named Glen, played by TOH first –timer Zachary Cipriano. With help of his bandmates, bass player Sammy, played by Waterbury Arts Magnet Senior Nolan Cummings and keyboardist George, played by Tom Bergamo, another newcomer to the TOH stage, Wedding Singer Robbie wil have to pull off the performance of a decade, or the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.
Rounding out the talented cast is Marley Thompson in the role of promiscuous friend Holly, Rhiannon Carta as the fickle fiancé Linda, Reilly Lincavicks as Julia’s mom Angie, Lauren Stango as Grandma Rosie and Alison Hudson, Allison VanDerlyn, Amber Clavette, Christy Dzubay, Dan Smyth-Temple, Gillian Russo, Grace Consonni, Jennifer Beveridge, Jon Yatco, Joshua Rodis, Joshua Viltrakis, Julia Squillace, Kasey Geremia, Lillianna McGrath, Lindsay Cronin, Lindsay Sawyer, Megan Foell, Morgan Griffin, Stephanie O’Keefe and Victoria Bottass as ensemble characters.
