Yes, yoga in bed! A few yoga poses makes it easier to get out of bed and keeps me moving as the day progresses.
I love yoga as an exercise program and physical therapy routine for my aging knees. I start with yoga then if I feel like it, I do other more strenuous exercises during the day. The physical postures of yoga are said to alleviate health problems, reduce stress and make the spine supple.
Here’s how to begin in bed:

STRETCH! While you’re still prone in bed, inhale and exhale deeply and slowly, stretching the whole body, arms over head, knees straight, alternately pointing and flexing each foot.
HEEL SLIDE! While you’re lying on your back with your belly button pulled toward your spine, slowly slide one heel toward the buttock, then slide it back to straight. Switch legs and repeat up to 10 slides on each leg.

SINGLE KNEE TO CHEST! Still lying on your back, pull one knee toward your chest. Hold for five seconds while breathing deeply. Repeat with the opposite leg. See if you can work up to three times for each knee, holding it for up to 20 seconds.
TRUNK ROTATION! Again on your back, bend your knees, keeping your feet on the bed at least hip-width apart. Gently roll the knees from side to side as far as possible without discomfort. Hold for 10 seconds. Work up to 10 repetitions.
ANKLE PUMPS! On your back, legs down, flex your feet up towards you then point them away from you. Hold each position for up to 10 seconds working up to 10 repetitions.
These exercises will help you get started to facing a bright new day.
Although there’s no concrete medical evidence about the effects of yoga, long-term yoga practitioners in the US report muscular and skeletal improvements as well as improved mental health, say Kathy Glenn, Janet Hennard and Jayne Shale.
