1 Hurt After Car Crashes Down Embankment In Southington: FFs

The driver was rushed to a nearby hospital Sunday night.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local firefighters said one person was rushed to the hospital after the vehicle they were operating crashed down an embankment in town Sunday night.

Southington Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2033 posted images of a car being winched up an embankment in the dark.

The firefighters union, which represents paid members of the Southington Fire Department, said the accident was at the intersection of West and West Main Streets.

"Our members utilized the winch on Squad 5 and a chain to secure the vehicle so we could extricate the occupant," wrote the firefighters union Monday morning.

Firefighters said the patient was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
