1 Vote Decides Southington State Representative Race
Out of more than 10,500 votes cast, one vote was the deciding factor once a recount was conducted in Southington.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — After a recount was held, Chris Poulos, a Democrat, was elected to represent the 81st House District by one vote, according to results from the Secretary of State and the Record Journal.
According to the Secretary of State website, Poulos secured 5,297 votes and Republican Tony Morrison earned 5,296 votes.
After the recount, Connecticut Democrats tweeted, "One. Vote. If you live in the 81st & voted for Chris Poulos, take a bow! You flipped a seat from red to blue @PoulosChris was Connecticut’s 2007 State Teacher of the Year, and a 2022 Inductee of the National Teachers Hall of Fame. Now, he's a State Rep!"

On Facebook, Poulos wrote on his campaign page, "Yes! We! Did! Thank you Southington! Our campaign of hard work and common sense has paid off. I am excited to share that today’s recount confirmed that Southington voters have put their trust and confidence in me as their next State Representative for the 81st District. I am beyond honored and pledge to serve with integrity on behalf of all our residents. I won’t let you down."
