2 Charged With Stealing $15K Worth of Jewelry in Southington
A pair is accused of systematically stealing jewelry from a Southington home.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — A pair has been charged with the systematic theft of about 60 items of jewelry from a Southington home, police said.
On Friday at about 4 a.m., Hartford Police came in contact with Albert Skwiot, 35, of Southington, and Melissa Quinn, 33 of Cheshire, according to a report.
Both had active arrest warrants out of Southington.

Both were taken into custody and transported to Southington, according to a report.
Skwiot was processed and charged with second-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny and held on a $20,000 surety bond, according to a report.

Quinn was processed and charged with the same crimes and and held on a $10,000 surety bond, according to a report.
Police said an investigation was initiated after a relative of Skwiot’s suspected Skwiot and Quinn of stealing jewelry from a residence.
On that date, Skwiot and Quinn went to visit the Victim and during the visit Skwiot walked through the victim’s residence and was seen leaving the Victim’s bedroom, police said.
As Skwiot was walking through the residence, it is alleged that Quinn was attempting to block the victim’s view of Skwiot, police said.
The victim later checked the bedroom and found jewelry missing, police said.
The victim estimated that 20 pairs of gold earrings and 40 gold rings were missing with an estimated value of
$15,900, police said.
The warrant alleges that the Skwiot and Quinn had been stealing jewelry from the victim for a period of time during frequently visits and the jewelry was discovered missing on Sept. 24, police said.
An investigation revealed that the jewelry was pawned at several locations throughout the state over a period of time, police said.
Skwiot was charged on a separate warrant for failure to appear and assigned a separate $5,000, police said.
