A second water main break in a busy section of Southington has extended repairs into Tuesday afternoon, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A second water main break in a busy section of Southington extended repairs into Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Traffic delays along Queen Street near Spring Street last until 4 p.m., police said.
Southington police spokesman Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said traffic was "a mess" in the area while crews worked on the pipes.

The first water main break occurred in the vicinity of Spring Street and Queen Street in Southington at about 4 on Monday afternoon, officials said.
A crew from the Southington Water Department was on the scene repairing the pipe soon after the break, officials said. Several homes in the area were affected, officials said.

There was a second water main break about two hours later in the same area, police said. Crews worked overnight and into Tuesday, Dobratz said.
