3 Southington Stores Caught Selling To Minor In Vaping Sting

Three Southington stores were caught selling vaping products to a minor in a Thursday sting operation: cops.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Three Southington stores were caught selling vaping products to a minor in a Thursday sting operation,police said.

Officers from the Southington Police Department, in conjunction with the STEPS Coalition, conducted the "electronic nicotine sale compliance check" operation with a 16-year-old boy, who entered establishments all over townand attempted to purchase a vape product with no identification.

Police said of the fourteen 14 locations checked, three were non-compliant:

  • Citgo Gas Station - 202 Main Street, Southington
  • Mobil - 11 Marion Ave. in Plantsville
  • FLEET - 2211 Meriden Waterbury Rd. in the Marion section of town

Employees were issued infractions for the violations carrying a $200 fines, police said.

Additional Compliance Checks are being planned for future dates, police said.
