Accused Serial Beverage Bandit Arrested For Southington Caper
A man accused of being a serial beverage bandit has now been charged in Southington and Vernon.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A man already in custody for a strange supermarket theft to the east was charged in Southington for a caper that involved stealing beer from the same chain, police said.
Southington police on Monday charged Anthony Adamo, 39, of Bristol, with sixth-degree larceny and assigned him a 10,000 bond. He was to appear in court Tuesday, police said. He was at the Hartford Correctional Center after an arrest in Vernon in September.
The case dates back to July 31, when security staffers at Price Chopper, 410 Queen Street, contacted Southington police about a shoplifting incident that took place the previous day. A man, later identified as Adamo, allegedly selected three, 30-packs of Bud Light beer and five 30-packs of Budweiser beer, placed them in a cart, and busted out of store via the dairy section emergency exit door, according to a report.

He also took some items store staffers could not identify on surveillance video reviews, police said. They did eventually recognize Adamo from previous incidents in the chain, police said.
The total retail value of the theft was $223.92, according to a report.

Adamo apparently acted alone in Southington, police said. That was not the case in the Vernon incident in September, when his mother was the alleged getaway car driver, according to a report.
According to a report, Adamo's mom was observed dropping him off in front of the Price Chopper store at the Tri-City Plaza in Vernon and then driving behind the building near the loading dock. The rear registration plate was bent upward to hide the numbers, police said.
Adamo allegedly put eight, 30-packs of beer in a cart. He also grabbed one roll of toilet paper and a package of cheese in addition to the 240 beers, according to a report.
Adamo tried to run out of the store through an emergency exit to his mom waiting in the getaway car, a Ford Focus, according to a report. They were caught red-handed and arrested, according to a report.
