Amid Southington FD Volunteer Push, Department Swears In New FF/EMT

The hybrid department is always looking for volunteer firefighters to assist paid Southington firefighters.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The Southington Fire Department expanded by one Monday with the swearing in of the newest member of the town's bravest.

The Southington Fire Department announced the swearing in of new firefighter/emergency medical technician Carter Hennessey.

The SFD is a hybrid department, which means its membership is comprised of career firefighters like Hennessey and volunteers.

It is always on the lookout for volunteers as well, with several benefits available to prospective volunteer firefighters.
