SOUTHINGTON, CT — The Southington Drive-In has announced its 2026 summer movie lineup, with the season set to open Saturday, May 30, with the 1975 blockbuster “Jaws.”
The town-owned, volunteer-run venue will host films nearly every Saturday through Sept. 17, according to a Thursday announcement.
The schedule includes a mix of classic titles and newer releases.
Among the films planned for the season are “Cars,” “The Princess Bride,” “The Karate Kid” (1984), “Top Gun,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” “Zootopia 2,” “Superman: The Movie” (1978), “Grease,” and “Wicked,” organizers said.
The drive-in will be closed on July 4 and July 25.
Organizers encouraged residents to attend the Southington Italian-American Festival during the July 25 closure.
“We are excited to announce our Summer 2026 Drive-In schedule. Fifteen weeks of big screen viewing are coming your way starting May 30,” the Southington Drive-In Committee said in its announcement. “Our movie lineup features some new releases and some classics — many of which are celebrating milestone anniversaries this year.”
The committee also acknowledged its lead sponsor, Richard Chevrolet, noting the support “allows us to keep our pricing at $20 a vehicle-load.”
Located at 995 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike, the Southington Drive-In reopened in 2010 and operates as a nonprofit community venue.
Proceeds support local organizations, and the snack bar is run by the Southington High School DECA Club.
“Get ready to discover ‘REEL’ nostalgia at the drive-in,” the committee said.
In addition to Southington, there are currently two other permanent drive-in movie theaters in operation in Connecticut.
These remaining venues offer a mix of new releases and classic, nostalgic films, typically operating during the spring and summer months.
