SOUTHINGTON, CT — A community event focused on mental health awareness and wellness will return to Southington later this month.
The second annual Town-Wide Block Party, sponsored by WISE, is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, at 1 p.m. in the parking lot of First Congregational Church of Southington, 37 Main St. A rain date has been set for May 31.
Organizers said the free event is intended to celebrate mental health, community connection, and local support services available in Southington and neighboring towns.
The afternoon will feature live music, community organizations, and free snacks, including cotton candy, snow cones, and popcorn.
Several local businesses, nonprofits and community groups are sponsoring or participating in the event, including Hartford HealthCare, LiveWell, Main Street Community Foundation, Southington Youth Services and Bread for Life.
WISE organizers said the event aims to help build “a stronger, healthier, more compassionate community” by promoting mental health awareness and connecting residents with available resources.
