SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington’s annual “Music on the Green” concert series will return Wednesday, May 27, with weekly outdoor performances scheduled through Sept. 2 on the Southington Town Green.
The free Wednesday evening concert series runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Town Green on Main Street and will feature tribute bands, classic rock, Motown, country, funk, and dance music throughout the summer.
This year’s opening performance on May 27 will feature Presence CT, a Led Zeppelin tribute band sponsored by O & D Excavating.
Additional featured acts include Fleetwood Mac tribute band Little Lies on June 10, Bon Jovi tribute band Raise Your Hands on July 29, and Eagles tribute band Desperados on Aug. 26.
The July 1 concert featuring Paper in Fire, a John Mellencamp tribute band, will be sponsored by Southington’s America 250 Committee as part of celebrations leading up to the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Town officials said concerts may be postponed to Thursday evenings in the event of bad weather.
Any postponement or cancellation announcements will be made by 2 p.m. on the day of the performance.
Free parking will be available in municipal lots behind Southington Town Hall, on Riccio Way and off Center Street. Officials asked visitors not to park in private driveways or business parking lots.
The town also reminded attendees that alcoholic beverages, smoking, vaping, dogs, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, and motorized recreational vehicles are prohibited on Town Green property during the events under local ordinances.
Exceptions apply for service animals and mobility devices used by disabled persons.
