SOUTHINGTON, CT — The Southington Public Library announced temporary service changes as staff continue transitioning to a new library system expected to launch in June.
Library officials said that from May 26 through June 3, patrons must present either a physical library card or an image of their card to check out materials or place holds.
During the transition period, staff members will be unable to manually look up accounts using names or other personal information, according to the library.
Officials also said the library will temporarily suspend issuing new library cards and renewing expired cards until the system migration is complete.
The library described the changes as temporary and said the transition is intended to improve services for patrons.
“We can’t wait to show you the new system in June,” the library said in a social media announcement.
Library officials apologized for the inconvenience and thanked patrons for their patience during the upgrade process.
