Southington Library Collecting Blood Next Week (patch.com) — Southington residents are being urged to roll up their sleeves for an American Red Cross blood drive at the Southington Public Library on Wednesday, June 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Donors at the Main Street library will receive a $15 electronic gift card, be entered for a chance at larger gift cards, and enjoy sandwiches and cookies provided by Outback Steakhouse.
2. Southington Health Programs Benefit From Major Foundation Funds (patch.com) — Southington residents will see a major boost to local health and support services thanks to more than $539,000 in grants from the Main Street Community Foundation’s Barnes Memorial Trust. Funding will expand senior transportation, dementia-friendly initiatives, behavioral health outreach, domestic violence services, school-based agriculture and education programs, and emergency preparedness at local group homes, all focused on improving Southington’s well-being.
3. New Haven Man Sentenced to 29 Years in Federal Prison for Pandemic Robbery Spree: Feds (patch.com) — A New Haven man has been sentenced to nearly 29 years in federal prison for a string of armed gas station robberies that included a 2020 holdup at the Fleet station on Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike in Southington. Federal prosecutors say he threatened and assaulted clerks across several Connecticut towns, and Southington police helped the FBI and other departments investigate the case.
4. Where are police FLOCK cameras in CT? I-Team dives into search data (wfsb.com) — Southington drivers are being scanned by 32 police license plate cameras that have logged about 1.5 million searches since late 2025, mainly for traffic, drugs, and wanted suspects. A new state law now limits how this data can be shared, and Southington police say strict audits and filters are in place while highlighting cases where the system helped find a suicidal person and solve local crimes.
5. This CT baseball team is used to big comebacks, and they did it again to take home a title (courant.com) — Southington High’s baseball team saw a seven-run first-inning lead slip away in the CCC tournament final at Bristol’s Muzzy Field, falling 8–7 to Hall. Despite strong early hitting and a standout start from UConn-bound pitcher Luke Prozzo, Hall rallied late to deny Southington another conference title.
