Water Service In Southington To Be Restored Soon: UPDATE

Southington Water Works is responding to an emergency water main break on Berlin Street unrelated to ongoing construction.

| Updated

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington Water Works crews are working to repair an emergency water main break on Berlin Street that prompted an unscheduled shutdown of water service Friday morning.

By early Friday afternoon, water officials said the situation was close to being rectified, with service set to be restored later in the afternoon.

In a statement posted on social media, the utility said the outage is unrelated to the ongoing water main construction project taking place on Berlin Street and Lacey Drive.

"Good morning. We have an UNSCHEDULED/EMERGENCY shutdown related to a water main break on Berlin Street," Southington Water Works said. "This is not related to our construction project on Berlin/Lacey."

Crews have excavated down to the water main and were actively working to locate the source of the break, according to the utility.

The emergency shutdown comes during a week that has already included planned water service interruptions tied to the water main replacement project, creating additional inconvenience for affected customers.

"We understand this is a huge inconvenience when you consider the other SCHEDULED shutdowns this week associated with our water main project," the utility said.

Officials asked residents to remain patient as crews work to restore service.

"Please be patient while our crew works to restore service under less than ideal conditions," the utility said.

Southington Water Works said it will provide updates through its social media channels as repair work progresses and additional information becomes available.
