SOUTHINGTON/PLAINVILLE/CHESHIRE, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation will begin an extended tree removal operation along Interstate 84 in Southington, Plainville and Cheshire this week.
According to the state Department of Transportation, crews will remove trees along I-84 eastbound and westbound between Exit 26 in Cheshire and Exit 34 in Plainville beginning Monday, June 22, and continuing through Aug. 14.
The work will take place overnight from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday. No work will be performed during scheduled holidays, according to the agency.
Motorists should expect lane and ramp closures during construction hours. Traffic will be detoured around active work zones.
The tree removal project is intended to improve roadway safety and maintain vegetation along the interstate corridor.
Drivers traveling through the area are encouraged to allow extra travel time, follow posted detour signs, and use caution when passing through work zones
